2015 Tax Brackets for Married Filing Jointly and Surviving Spouses

Regular Tax Rates on Ordinary Income.

For Married Filing Jointly and Surviving Spouses the taxable income and applicable rates are:

from $0 to $18,150                 10%
from $18,150 to $74,000       15%
from $74,900 to $151,200     25%
from $151,200 to $230,450   28%
from $230,450 to $411,500   33%
from $411,500 to $464,850   35%
Over $464,850                         39.6%

Capital Gain Rates
If taxable income falls within the 10% or 15% ordinary tax rate then the capital gain rate is 0%.
If taxable income is taxed at the ordinary rate of 25%, 28%, 33% or 35%, the capital gain rate is 15%.
If taxable income is taxed at the new higher 39.6% ordinary rate, the capital gain rate is 20%.
